Egg Chowmein

As I have mentioned before, Chinese food is my favorite, I just love momos, chowmein, fried rice, manchurian, spring rolls.. ohh actually anything chinese..:)

I love eggs too.. now when I combine both these loves.. Egg Noodles.. ūüôā

Egg Chowmein

Preparation Time:- 15 mins | Cooking Time:- 15 mins | Serves:- 2 people

INGREDIENTS:

  • 150 gms of Noodles
  • 2 table spoon Oil
  • 1 Medium Onion sliced length wise
  • 1/2 Capsicum deseeded and shredded
  • 1 small carrot shredded
  • 2-3 French Beans finely sliced
  • 1/4 tea spoon Ajinomoto
  • 1 tea spoon Pepper Powder (Kali Mirch)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 table spoon Green Chilly Sauce
  • 3 table spoon Soya Sauce
  • 2 Eggs

PREPARATION:

Boil the noodles as mentioned in How to Boil Noodles.

Heat some oil in a pan, and add the eggs. Scramble the eggs, till they are properly cooked. Keep aside.

Heat the oil and add onions. Stir fry for about 2 mins, till the onions become translucent.

Stir in the vegetables, carrot, beans and capsicum and cook for another 2-3 mins. Let the vegetables be crisp.

Add the salt. pepper and ajinomoto.

Add the Soya sauce and stir fry for another 2 mins.

Add boiled noodles and chilly sauce.  Mix the noodles properly.

Stir fry the noodles for 1 min. (If you want a darker or lighter color to the noodles adjust the soya sauce quantity.)

Finally toss in the scrambled eggs, mix and serve hot.

SERVING:

  • Serve hot with Tomato Ketchup.

Vegetable Pasta in white sauce

I always used to make pasta in red sauce.. Started making it like any Punjabi curry but eventually got the correct red sauce pasta… Everybody used to tell me that try the white sauce pasta since it is much more simpler than the red sauce one.. So one fine evening, tried the first white sauce pasta in my kitchen..

Vegetable Pasta in white sauce

Preparation Time:- 10 mins | Cooking Time:- 15 mins | Serves:- 2 people

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 cups Pasta
  • 2 tea spoon¬†cornflour
  • 1 table spoon Butter
  • 4-5 cloves Garlic grated
  • 2 cups Milk
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 table spoon grated Cheese
  • 1 tea spoon Dried Basil
  • 1 tea spoon Oregano
  • 1/2 tea spoon Chilli Flakes
  • 1 tea spoon Pepper Powder (Kali Mirch)
  • 1 Medium Onion finely chopped
  • 1/2 Capsicum deseeded and chopped finely
  • 1 small carrot¬†chopped finely
  • 2 table spoon Corn
  • 1 tea spoon Olive oil

PREPARATION:

For the sauce:

Boil the pasta as per the instructions provided on the packet. Drain and keep aside.

Take butter in a pan and add the grated garlic and saute for a minute.

Once its done add the cornflour saute for a second let it not turn brown.

Add milk and stir it continuously to avoid lumps.

Once the mixture starts thickening add oregano, basil, salt, pepper powder and red chilli flakes.

Add the grated cheese and keep aside.

For the vegetables:

Boil vegetables  together with little salt. Do not over boil, the vegetables need to be crunchy. (You can add any vegetables of your choice)

Heat the oil and add onions. Stir fry for about 2 mins, till the onions become translucent.

Add the boiled vegetables to the onions and stir fry for about 2 minutes.

For the Pasta:

Heat the pasta sauce made earlier and add the vegetables to it. Also add the boiled pasta to the sauce.

Fold the pasta and vegetables properly in the sauce.

SERVING:

  • Serve hot with some grated cheese.

So this was my first attempt to prepare some chowmein at home… I was nervous to the edge of my hairs… I wanted it to be something that I would love to eat… Now with a thumping heart and shivering fingers, this is what I did…

Vegetable Chowmein

INGREDIENTS:

  • 150 gms of Noodles
  • 2 table spoon Oil
  • 1 Medium Onion sliced length wise

How to Boil Noodles

The key to making good noodles is that you boil them properly… So decided to make a note of it…:)

Boiled Noodles

Preparation Time:- 2 mins | Cooking Time:- 15 mins | Serves:- 2 people

INGREDIENTS:

  • 150 gms of Noodles
  • 2 tea spoon Oil
  • 1 tea spoon salt
  • 10 cups of water

PREPARATION:

Boil the 10 cups of water with 1 tea spoon salt and 1 tea spoon oil. Add the noodles to the boiling water.

Use a fork to gently separate out these noodles from each other.

Cook uncovered for about 2-3 minutes only. The noodles should be par boiled.

Strain and wash the noodles under cold water several times. Use your hands to make sure all the noodles separate out properly.

Leave them in the strainer for 15 minutes to dry out completely. Now add 1 tea spoon of oil and apply it properly on the noodles with your hands.

The noodles are now ready to be used.
